Housing starts continue to climb in Southeast Michigan compared with last year, according to the latest data released by Housing Consultants Inc. today. From January through April, the nine-county region saw a 119 percent increase in construction permits for new housing from the same four-month period last year. Some of the most pronounced increases occurred in Metro Detroit's three largest counties. Oakland County experienced a 152.8 percent jump to 182 permits from 72!
